During October the children worked really hard learning new things. Throughout numeracy Year 3 learnt about estimating and weighing items using non standard units and counting amounts of money up to 50p aswell as giving change. They all have worked hard placing any number within 50 and counting forwards and backwards as well as counting in 2’s. Year 4 have been learning about area and symmetry of shapes as well as learning about analogue and digital times for o’clock, half past, quarter past and quarter to.They have also been working on ordering non consecutive and consecutive numbers within 500 as well as picking up speed counting forwards and backwards in 10’s from any given number. In literacy both year groups have learnt how to write a poem using the rhyme stealers method and learning the features of persuasive writing. This allowed them to then make a persuasive poster related to their learning topic. In PE the children finished off their games session with a pirate island game and captains commands before beginning to learn some dance techniques through Core NI. The children have also been given the opportunity in ICT to complete tasks on Purple Mash as well as produce there own pirate name for their wanted posters. The children loved the opportunity during art making their own telescopes and designing a pirate ship and making their own treasure chest.
