April in P3&4
We have had a busy return to school after the Easter break. We have enjoyed learning in a variety of ways within the classroom and outdoors.
In literacy, P4 were using non-fiction books on Minibeasts to explore layout of organisational features. P3 and P4 wrote about settings in the garden based on a story about a caterpillar. In Numeracy, P4 have completed a lot of work on place value of HTU and using these numbers to make addition and subtraction sums. They have also been using metre sticks and rulers to measure insects, items within the classroom and outside. P3 have been focusing on irregular and regular 2D shapes. They also explored patterns with these shapes. P3 enjoyed their practical length lessons and loved helping Miss Elliott measure a variety of items in the classroom and in the dining hall. We had some very close estimated measurements by the boys and girls!
In PE we have been focusing on the techniques and skills used for running and jumping by height and distance. It has been wonderful to get outside for PE 🌞
In Art, Activity Based Learning and Topic, we have enjoyed drawing and using oil pastels to do a garden landscape of minibeasts. There was a lot of excited faces on Friday when we had a surprise arrival of our new class pets - 5 baby caterpillars. We are looking forward to observing the changes in the next few weeks 🐛 - 🦋
Our new topic in Shared Education with St. Mary’s Primary is all about Life processes, living things and non-living things. We will learn lots about this topic over the final term.
